Hungarian Olympic Gold Medalist Katinka Hosszu won four gold medals at the Swim Cup Lausanne this past weekend.
Following her record-breaking performance at the International Swimming Federation (FINA) World Swimming Championships (25M) two weeks ago, the ‘Iron Lady’ has struck gold yet again, this time in Lausanne.
Hosszu clinched the top spot in the 50m backstroke, the 400m Individual Medley, the 200m backstroke, and the 100m Individual Medley.
2016 has undoubtedly been an incredible year for Katinka. The 27-year-old swimmer, who won one silver and three gold medals at the Rio Olympics this past summer, was chosen as FINA’s best female swimmer of 2016 the day before the World Swimming Championships began in Windsor, Canada.
But while Katinka’s victory was unquestionably stunning, she was not the only Hungarian to earn a gold medal in the Swiss tournament. In addition to Katinka’s four gold medals, four other Hungarians swam to victory in Lausanne: Dávid Verrasztó in the 400m Individual Medley, Péter Bernek in the 200m backstroke, Dalma Sebestyén in the 100m breaststroke, and Zsuzsanna Jakabos in the 200m butterfly. All four won gold medals, meaning that the Hungarian team flew home with a total of 8 gold medals, the best result of any club in the Swim Cup.

Katinka and her fellow Hungarians took part in the tournament as part of swimming club Iron Aquatics, which was founded by the ‘Iron Lady’ herself.
