Richter Receives International Award For Exemplary Social Responsibility Efforts

Hungarian pharmaceutical company Gedeon Richter Plc’s social responsibility efforts have been recognised with the Global CSR Excellence and Leadership Award. ​It is for the first time that a Hungarian-based multinational company has been appreciated for such activity by an international jury as Richter proved to be the best in the healthcare category at the World CSR Day event. The awards recognising CSR activity were presented for the fifth time at a ceremony in Mumbai, India.

“Social responsibility has been a priority for Gedeon Richter Plc ever since its foundation 115 years ago”, the Budapest-based drugmaker company said in a statement.  “It was especially important for the jury that Gedeon Richter pays special attention to prevention through its programmes, which is evidenced by its wide-ranging CSR activities. The Company’s social responsibility activities include support for the future generation of the profession through its foundations”, Richter said. The award was received on behalf of Gedeon Richter by Hoshang D. Messman, international business development director of Richter-Themis Medicare in Mumbai on 18 February 2016.

World CSR Day was founded by Dr R. L. Bhatia and is held in Mumbai, India. The panel of judges, which recognises applications in 15 different categories, is made up of professional authorities from 85 partner countries. The purpose of the award is to recognise companies and organisations that set an example in their category. The award sheds light on a globally remarkable practice, putting the examples of responsible business conduct into focus.
