The Baptist Charity has sent a team of Hungarian and US experts to help rescue work in earthquake-hit Ecuador, the charity’s Hungarian branch said.
The Hungarian-led “Rescue24” team will join local teams to help with medical assistance, sanitation and adjusting temporary shelter to those in need. The team will also coordinate over the takeover and distribution of medical aid arriving from partner organisations in Texas.
The earthquake in Ecuador has injured at least 2,600 people, damaged over 1,500 buildings, and left 18,000 people spending the night in shelters. The death toll stands at 413, but it is expected to rise, news agency Reuters reported.
