Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton claimed victory in the 35th Formula One Hungarian Grand Prix, round 3 of the 2020 FIA Formula One World Championship. Due to the coronavirus outbreak, the Hungarian GP took place behind closed doors in 2020.
It was the 86th victory of Hamilton’s career, and he is now just five short of Schumacher’s all-time record of 91 – a record that looks increasingly likely to fall this season.
Red Bull’s Max Verstappen finished second, while Valtteri Bottas in the other Mercedes completed the podium.
For the second time in as many races Renault protested the legality of Racing Point’s RP20, after Lance Stroll and Sergio Perez finished the Hungarian Grand Prix in P4 and P7 respectively.
Renault issued the following statement on Sunday evening: “We confirm that Renault DP World F1 Team has submitted a request to the Stewards of the Event for clarification on the legality of the Racing Point RP20. We have no further comment on this matter until the Stewards have arrived at a decision.”
