Breaking Record: Half-Million Visitors Came to Budapest’s Sziget Festival

According to the information of the Press Office of the Sziget Festival the attendance at this year’s festival was higher than ever. The number of the 496.000 visitors is the top in the history of the festival during the last 24 years.

Almost 200 countries exist in the world and to the 24th Sziget Festival visitors arrived from 102 out of those. To the “touristic attraction festival” people came from all around the world such as Nigeria, Vietnam, Gibraltar, Qatar, Chine, the Marshall-islands etc. to set up the “festival republic” on the island of freedom.


Within the colorful programs of the festival everybody could find their place and their company. The design and scenery of the festival was enthralling this year too. The citizens of the festival republic could meet the Octopuff, Spaceship made of trash or have a rest under the shadows of the “round-forest” or in the Love Pavilon. Thereby this year is the 60th anniversary of the revolution of 1956 the visitors could meet the Hungarian revolutionists and freedom-fighters by visiting the “Wall of Heroes”



On the stages they could find various programs of special parties such as Flag Party, Color Party, Clapping Rod Party, Pom-pom Party, Konfetti Party just to mention some of the additional programs.



At the last night an amazing firework crowned the festival’s end.
