The Hungarian government has decided to set up a fund of 30 million euros to be distributed as grants between Hungarian companies investing in countries of the Western Balkans, state secretary of foreign affairs Levente Magyar said in Arilje, in central Serbia, on Tuesday.

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony of a joint Hungarian-Serbian project aimed at building a raspberry processing plant, Magyar voiced hope that the funds will facilitate a series of similar ventures in the next 2-3 years.

Concerning Serbia, Magyar said that projects worth a combined 254 million euros have been completed with assistance from the Hungarian government in Serbia’s northernmost Vojvodina province in the past two years. He added that Hungarian firms are now active in central Serbia, too.
