Govt Submitting Amendment in Support of Hard-hit Budapest Taxi Drivers

MTI-Hungary Today 2020.10.02.

The government has agreed to put forward an amendment with the aim of helping out Budapest’s taxi drivers hard hit by the coronavirus crisis. The bill proposes waiving the deadline for replacing taxis that are older than ten years.

Drivers whose vehicles reach the threshold for mandatory replacement this year will be able to defer purchasing a new vehicle to next year, Tamás Schanda, the state secretary of the ministry, said on Facebook on Thursday, noting that the policy was backed by the Budapest Chamber of Industry and Trade.
