The Hungarian government is devoting 2.2 billion forints (EUR 6.2m) to supporting projects in Hungarian communities across the world as well as organisations in Hungary that promote similar goals, the State Secretary for Hungarian Communities Abroad said.

Presenting the outcome of four tenders put out in December last year to distribute the funds, Árpád János Potápi said that 1.5 billion forints of the grand total is being channelled to education and cultural projects, while another 87 million forints will go to youth organisations.

Some 364 million forints is available for ethnic Hungarian organisations, with special regard to education, while 250 million forints can be tapped for partnership programmes between localities in Hungary and Hungarian communities abroad, Potápi said.
