Foreign Minister Inaugurates Consular Office in Wroclaw

MTI-Hungary Today 2019.03.14.

Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó inaugurated Hungary’s consular office in Wroclaw, Poland’s third major service centres hub, on Thursday.

The diplomatic mission will be tasked with giving a rapid boost to bilateral economic, trade, tourism and cultural ties.

Addressing the event, Szijjártó said that the presence of 300,000 companies including many new creative start-ups had been a major incentive for opening the mission in the city.

Wroclaw has so far played an important role in elevating Poland to become Hungary’s fourth largest trading partner, he said, noting that bilateral trade between the two countries totalled a record 10.2 billion euros in 2018.

Szijjártó said Hungary would open consular missions in Szczecin and Gdansk next year with the Polish government’s support.

By opening these missions we want to send the message that we are attributing increasing importance to our ties with Poland”
