Foreign choirs’ extraordinary performances of one of the best-known and most beautiful Hungarian folk songs have taken the Internet by storm.
On the occassion of an international choir meeting held by Budapest’s Palace of Arts, organisers asked the invited groups to reinterpret the Hungarian folk song “Tavaszi szél vizet áraszt” in a way that is typical of their native city. The initiative was launched to promote the first Budapest International Choir Competition, which is to take place in the Palace of Arts between 23 and 25 May with the participation of 1000 singers from 10 countries across four continents. The organisers sent the song’s music sheet to choir leaders and asked them to record its performance at a location typical of their city. Watch the stunning results!
