The Hungarian national team is to receive Sweden for a friendly match on 15 November, the Hungarian Football Federation (MLSZ) announced on Wednesday afternoon.
The national team, headed by Hungary coach Bernd Storck, has one final ranked match this year – against Andorra on 13 November, also in domestic surroundings – followed by a preparation match to finish off the year.
Although Hungary has played against the Nordic country for a whopping 12 times since 1992, their team has not visited Hungary since being beaten 2-1 at European Championship qualifiers in 2011.
The match will mark the last time 40-year-old Gábor Király (pictured on our cover photo), the star of this year’s European Championship, and defender Roland Juhász – who both have significant experience in battling the Swedes – will play in Hungarian national colours.
Both the Hungary-Andorra and Hungary-Sweden matches will be held in Budapest’s Groupama Arena, voted the world’s best newly-built football stadium last year.
