First Names of VOLT 2017 Lineup Announced

Tom Szigeti 2016.12.14.

One of Hungary’s largest music festivals, VOLT, just released the first part of its lineup for the 2017 Festival.

According to yesterday’s announcement on the Festival’s Facebook page, VOLT 2017 will feature English singer Ellie Goulding, American rock band Imagine Dragons, and Dutch DJ Martin Garrix. The music festival will also include Jess Gylnee, Lost Frequencies, Fritz Kalkbrenner, and Sigala. The rest of the lineup will be announced in the months to come.

VOLT, which will run from June 27th to July 1st in the Western Hungarian city of Sopron, began as a tiny festival run by two 19-year-olds, Zoltán Fülöp and Norbert Lobenwein. From these humble beginnings, however, it has grown in size and reputation every year since; performers from this past year’s festival include huge international names such as Wiz Khalifa, Slayer, and Iron Maiden.

In fact, VOLT Festival was voted Best European medium-sized festival in 2015’s European Festival Awards. Despite such stratospheric success, though, the festival has never forgotten its Hungarian roots, and many of Hungary’s most important musicians can be found at VOLT every year, in addition to many promising, up-and-coming bands of the Hungarian music scene.

As we had previously reported, prior to yesterday’s announcement, there was already one band that would be taking part in the 2017 iteration of the festival: Linkin Park, who will in fact be opening VOLT next year. (You can read our article about Linkin Park here).
