Finance Minister: Hungary Favours Coordinated Euro-zone Budget

MTI-Hungary Today 2019.03.12.

Hungary has a vested interest in a coordinated euro-zone budget and considers a separate budget only acceptable if it complies with other EU policies, Finance Minister Mihály Varga said at an extended meeting of euro-zone finance ministers in Brussels on Monday.

It lies in the interest of all EU countries that the euro-zone budget should not bring about parallel policies and instruments but should be based on the objectives of the European Union as a whole, the finance ministry cited him as saying at the meeting.

The minister said that the member states outside the euro area should be reasonably and appropriately involved in the governing and decision-making structures.
