Fatal Accident: Small Plane Crashed into Hungarian Field

A small, two-seat training aircraft disappeared from the radar at 11:50 and crashed into a field near Zichyújfalu, in Central Hungary’s Fejér County on Monday, according to the Ministry of the Interior’s National Directorate General for Disaster Management.

The pilot, who was alone in the plane, died on the spot. His body had to be retrieved from the wreckage by firefighters. The aircraft took off from Budaörs Airport and was headed to Kaposújlak. According to wire service MTI, the aircraft involved in the accident was a Scottish Aviation SK61 Bulldog.


At the same time, an Emirates plane was forced to make an unscheduled landing in Budapest, after numerous passengers felt ill. The Emirates EK237 aircraft was heading to Boston from the United Arab Emirates when the crew reported a problem with the passengers. An emergency unit of the National Ambulance Service provided passengers with medical aid together with the Airport Medical Service.
