Family Event Causes 36 Infections, 127 Quarantined

Hungary Today 2020.08.05.

36 coronavirus tests have come back positive after a family event in Sopron. Following the contact research, a total of 127 people were ordered to enter into self-quarantine.

In addition, 22 of those infected come from Hajdú-Bihar (an Eastern county, while Sopron is one of the westernmost towns of Hungary), some of them needing hospital treatment. 11 are from Sopron and three from Sárvár (Vas County).

According to the National Public Health Center (NNK), those affected all participated in a family event in Sopron.

This recent case shows that despite the low number of registered cases, the threat of the novel coronavirus is still present in Hungary, and even a smaller event can cause dozens of new infections if one infected person takes part.
