Ennio Morricone’s Farewell Concert Tour Coming to Budapest

The well-known composer Ennio Morricone is currently celebrating his 60 year-career with a world-wide concert tour. As a part of this tour, the renowned muscial genius will be in concert on the 18th of October in Budapest.

Sadly, the 60 Years of Music Tour will be Morricone’s last series of concerts, because he has noted that he would like to pay attention to his composing work. Those interested in attending his show in the Papp László Budapest Arena will by no means be going home dissapointed, however, as reportedly the concert will be an extremely grandiose, impressive affair. The 88-year-old composer will conduct 200 musicians at the concert, which is being organized with the cooperation of the Kodaly Choir and the Czech National Symphony Orchestra.

Ennio Morricone was born in Rome on the 10th of November 1928. His career includes a wide range of composition genres, from absolute concert music to applied music, working as orchestrator, conductor and composer for theatre, radio and cinema. Morricone, who is perhaps best known for his collaboartions with with famous directors such as Sergio Leone and Quentin Tarantino, has also conducted a mass composed in dedication to Pope Francis,  and in addition has received 27 gold records, seven platinum records, three Golden Plates and the Critica discografica award.

On top of all this, the soundtrack from the film The Good, The Bad and The Ugly was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2009, while Morricone himself was awarded the prestigious Polar Music prize the following year.
