The much-awaited premier of Géza Kaszás’ documentary film about world-famous Hungarian horse-archer Lajos Kassai will be held on 21st of January 2016 in Hungary. The movie trailer, which has been just released provides a glimpse into Kassai’s winter training camp started many years ago.
The film crew has been following Kassai’s Training School programs for over a year. But as Kassai remarked it the best parts of the film remain a secret until the premiere. Members of the Kassai Horseback Archery School gather every year between Christmas and the New Year in the Kassai Valley near Kaposmérő. The goal of the winter training camp is to get members of the school and the horses out of their comfort zones and make them active even in cold weather. During these training sessions the emphasis is on strength-training.
In January 2014, even Hollywood actor Matt Damon visited to Kassai to practice horse archery with the Hungarian master. The 45-year-old American star was preparing for his role in the film “The Great Wall” (to be released in 2016), on the construction of the world-famous ancient structure in China, as a mounted archer and Lajos Kassai, who is an internationally acclaimed master of the sport, was commissioned to draft action scenes and to oversee the preparation of the protagonist for the role.
