DK Demands more Hospital Funding

The opposition Democratic Coalition wants the government to declare a “state of emergency” in respect of national health care and to guarantee additional central funding for hospitals, DK spokesman Zsolt Gréczy said on Thursday.

The number of hospital infections has continued to grow, Zsolt Gréczy told a press conference, citing a study by experts of the Hungarian Civil Liberties Union (TASZ), which identified a reduction in central funding that forced hospitals to curb the use of disinfectants and disposable medical instruments.

Human Resources Minister Miklós Kásler promised measures to resolve the problem shortly after his appointment in the spring but he has not managed to deliver on that, Gréczy said.
