Deputy Prime Minister Zsolt Semjén received the Commander’s Cross of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Poland, at a ceremony at the Polish Embassy in Budapest on Tuesday.
The honour awarded by Polish President Andrzej Duda was presented to Semjén by Jerzy Snopek, the Polish ambassador to Budapest.
Snopek praised Semjén as “one of the greatest Hungarian politicians”. Semjén, the leader of the allied ruling KDNP (Christian Democrats) party and a long-standing member of parliament, is “known as a great friend of Poland and the Polish people,” the ambassador said.
