Defence Minister Signs Cooperation Memorandum in London
MTI-Hungary Today 2019.07.18.
Defence Minister Tibor Benkő signed a memorandum of understanding on boosting defence relations between Hungary and the United Kingdom with his British counterpart Penny Mordaunt in London on Wednesday.
Speaking to MTI after his meeting with Mordaunt, Benkő said the two countries had been engaged in various military cooperation exercises in recent years, mainly between their air forces. In addition, Hungary and the UK are both involved in the ongoing peacekeeping missions in Kosovo and Bosnia-Herzegovina, he noted.
Hungary wants this close cooperation to continue following the UK’s eventual exit from the European Union, the minister said. Irrespective of Brexit, the UK assumes a responsibility for Europe’s security, Benkő added.
