Fall is always a great time to go on a hike, as there are fewer lovelier things than the cooler and shorter days, the changing of the leaves with the beautiful autumn colors, and the beautiful Hungarian national parks, forests, and mountain ranges in their full autumn glory. 

The mating season, the rut of the deer, has also started in Hungary. During the rut, males often rub their antlers or horns on trees or shrubs, fight with each other, wallow in mud or dust.
