In the near of St. Stephen’s Basilica in Budapest, a new hotel has been opened recently as part of the prestigious Library Hotel Collection. The Aria Hotel Budapest is a luxury boutique hotel with an exquisite design inspired by music.
All six of Library Hotel Collection’s boutique hotels, which operate in Manhattan, Prague and Budapest, have their own distinctive theme; for example, Aria Hotel Prague is themed around music and the New York Library Hotel around libraries. The Budapest branch’s musical concept was set in form visually by interior designer Zoltán Varró – credits go to him for the hotel’s extraordinary musical concept. World-famous opera singer Andrea Rost is honorary curator of the hotel’s opera wing, while director Kornél Magyar is responsible for the hotel’s musical programme.
The Hungarian-born Henry Kallan, owner of the Library Hotel Collection, moved to America in 1968 with nothing else but the hope for a better tomorrow. Kallan worked his way up from the very bottom but now his hotel chain is regarded as one of the best in the world. Altough Kallan’s newest hotel located in the centre of Budapest opened only a few months ago, it already enjoys a leading place among Hungarian hotels, according to Tripadvisor. The originally neoclassical building in the Hercegprímás street had been empty for decades before Kallan acquired it but now it is becoming famous for its unique design, which perfectly reflects the historic atmosphere of Hungary’s capital.
To compliment the musical concept, master designer Zoltán Varró’s vision was to simultaneously recreate the rich, lavish atmosphere of a historic Hungarian palace while embracing visitors in the warmth and comfort of a private residence. Each of the four wings is dedicated to one of four major genres of music: Classical, Opera, Contemporary, and Jazz. Each room and suite features caricatures by internationally acclaimed artist Joseph Blecha to celebrate the world’s greatest musical legends such as Maria Callas, Count Basie, Bob Dylan, James Brown and Hungary’s own Franz Liszt. Budapest’s Aria has become the first hotel in the world, which purchased Gergely Bogányi’s wonder piano.
