21-year-old Daniella Kiss has been voted Hungary’s most beautiful girl at a beauty pageant yesterday, qualifying her to represent the country at Miss World 2015’s international finals in Shania, China.
Runners-up to the title of beauty queen were chosen by the jury as 21-year-old Dorina Ágnes Lepp and 19-year-old Virág Steingruber. Ms. Kiss also won the prize of the audience this year for the most beautiful contestant.
The competition’s sixteen finalists, who competed for the title on a programme broadcast live by public television’s Duna channel on Sunday evening, were selected from over a thousand applicants. Beside the traditional bikini outfit and night dress, the girls appeared on the catwalk in “retro” costumes and dresses inspired by traditional Hungarian folk attire.
Contributors to the event, hosted by television personalities Csilla Tatár and Levente Harsányi, included celebrity performers Kati Wolf, Nikolas Takács, Dánes Páll and Attila Kökény. The Miss World beauty pageant was held for the first time in 1951, with its first Hungarian participant taking part 26 years ago. Last year’s Miss Hungary, Edina Kulcsár, came second runner-up at the 2014 world competition’s finals in London.
