Having only soft drinks placed in front of him, Cristiano Ronaldo seemed a bit irritated at the beginning of the Hungary-Portugal pre-match press conference on Monday.
Two bottles of the popular soft drink had been set in front of the Portuguese team captain. Right after he sat down, the world-class athlete decided to move them aside, instead announcing that everyone should drink water, something most people would agree is a much better option for a football championship.
Ronaldo’s actions make it clear that he is not looking for sponsorship contracts with soft drink companies in the foreseeable future, and that he has instead chosen to promote healthier lifestyle choices.
The press conference preceded the opening match of Group F in the 2020 European Football Championship, set to take place at 18:00 at the Puskás Arena in Budapest.
