Forty-three Covid-19 patients died in the past 24 hours, and registered coronavirus infections rose by 2,291 to 65,933, koronavirus.gov.hu said on Wednesday.
The death toll rose to 1,578, while 17,098 people have made a recovery.
There are 47,257 active infections, while 3,166 patients are hospitalised, 263 on ventilators.
Fully 36,678 people are in official home quarantine, while the number of tests carried out stands at 1,017,689.
Border controls and entry restrictions remain in place and citizens have been asked to avoid participating in large events.
Wearing a face mask is obligatory in shops, on public transport and in cinemas, theatres, shopping malls, as well as in health and social-care facilities and at open-air events, including sports events. Restaurants and entertainment venues must close at 11pm.
Schools are in an autumn break during which the institutions are undergoing disinfection, the portal said.
Visits to hospitals and nursing homes are banned.
