Two elderly patients suffering from chronic diseases have died in the past 24 hours and the number of registered novel coronavirus infections has risen by six to 4,229, koronavirus.gov.hu said on Saturday morning.
Fully 595 people have died and 2,974 have made a recovery, while the number of active infections stands at 660. Altogether 2,196 people are in official home quarantine and 292,032 tests have been carried out. A total of 129 coronavirus patients are in hospital, 5 of whom are on ventilators.
Fully 38 percent of active infections, 60 percent of fatalities and 46 percent of recoveries have taken place in Budapest.
Budapest has the highest number of infections ever registered (1,989), followed by Pest County (640), and the counties of Fejér (379), Komárom-Esztergom (308) and Zala (262). Tolna County has the fewest infections with 13.
The threat of an epidemic has not disappeared and coronavirus cases are rising in neighbouring countries, the website said. The government, the operative board coordinating Hungary’s response to the epidemic and the epidemiological authority are continuously monitoring the status of the epidemic and are prepared to impose the necessary measures.
