Coronavirus: Number of Confirmed Cases 1310, Eight New Deaths Reported

The number of patients confirmed to have contracted the new coronavirus in Hungary was increased to 1,310 in the last 24 hours, with another eight new deaths reported, according to koronavirus.gov.hu, the official government information website for the epidemic.

Yesterday, the number of those infected was 1190. According to the government website, the total number of deaths caused by Covid-19 so far has reached 85 and there have been a total of 115 recoveries. Most of the victims of the disease were elderly and had additional chronic problems, the government website said. Currently, a total of 17,490 people are in official home quarantine and the authorities have taken 31,961 samples.

The majority of cases were reported from Budapest, with 655 positive cases, and the neighbouring Pest county in Central Hungary (199). The smallest number was reported from Heves county with 8 cases.
The website also noted that Hungary is currently in the phase when the virus is being transmitted in small clusters as opposed to in larger communitiesbut it is present in all parts of the country. They also warns that the number of people carrying and contracting the virus may be significantly higher than the number of confirmed cases.
