Lawmakers will vote on Monday on a bill that would extend a state of emergency and give the government special powers to take extraordinary measures to contain the spread of the novel coronavirus.
The bill, which requires the support of two-thirds of MPs to pass, would allow the government to take steps that deviate from regulations to ensure people’s health, legal security and economic stability. It would also keep in force measures the government has taken so far.
Also on the agenda for Monday is a vote on a bill that would allow the Pázmány Péter Catholic University to expand in Budapest’s Józsefváros (8th) district thanks to an exchange of real estate with the state.
