Coronavirus: Orbán, EBRD Head Discuss Hungary’s Economy Protection Plan

MTI-Hungary Today 2020.04.22.

Prime Minister Viktor Orbán had a phone talk with Sir Suma Chakrabarti, president of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), on Tuesday to brief him in detail on Hungary’s economy protection plan, the prime minister’s press chief told MTI.

Feedback from the EBRD’s partner banks in Hungary shows that the country was handling the crisis caused by the novel coronavirus pandemic in an “adept and effective” way, Bertalan Havasi cited Chakrabarti as saying.

According to Chakrabarti, Hungary is expected to be one of the two EU member states where the epidemic will cause the mildest recession, Havasi said.
