Although the Prime Minister wasn’t present at the party after which the Fidesz communications director tested positive for the coronavirus, there is an increasing number of government politicians entering quarantine, including the Justice Minister, the PMO Chief, and state secretaries. What is more, Fidesz MEP László Trócsányi also tested positive for coronavirus.
As we already reported, Gergely Gulyás, the head of the Prime Minister’s Office, and Balázs Orbán, his deputy, went into quarantine on Wednesday after attending a private event where one of the participants later tested positive for the novel coronavirus.
The event was held at the Zichy-Schaller kúria, in Veszprém county at Ernő Schaller-Baross’ private property. 24.hu reports that there were more than a hundred people participating.
Another three politicians said on Thursday that they moved into home quarantine, including Zoltán Kovács, Hungary’s state secretary for international communication and relations, Csaba Dömötör, a state secretary of the Prime Minister’s Office, and Örs Farkas, spokesman of the government information center (KTK). They all met István Hollik, communications director of ruling Fidesz, at the event.
In addition, on Friday two more event participants announced they would also go into quarantine. Initial tests for coronavirus, however, came back negative both for Csaba Hende, a deputy speaker of parliament who is also Fidesz’s deputy group leader, and Lőrinc Nacsa, a spokesman for the co-ruling Christian Democrats (KDNP), the Fidesz group said in a statement.
‘The Prime Minister is not concerned in this matter’
said Bertalan Havasi, Viktor Orbán’s press-agent, after the recent news around newly infected government politicians.
In addition, Minister of Justice Judit Varga also announced on Facebook that she had met with a confirmed coronavirus patient (independently from the aforementioned party) and was placed in official home quarantine and will work from home.
