The opposition LMP is calling for state support to provide free holidays at Lake Balaton to social workers in recognition of their work during the novel coronavirus epidemic.

LMP lawmaker Péter Ungár told a press conference on Facebook that the party supported a proposal by the Social and Child Protection Directorate to offer state-funded free holidays to workers of elderly care homes. This opportunity should be extended to all social workers, he said.
The party’s calculations show that this would cost the state less than 1 billion forints (EUR 2.8m), he added.

The party welcomes a 500,000 forint one-time bonus paid to health-care workers but the Human Resources Ministry has been unable to explain why social workers were not receiving the same bonus, he said.
