The opposition Jobbik party has called on the government to set up a dedicated border guard, suspend all China-Hungary flights and isolate guest workers on their way from western Europe to their homelands in order to ensure the safety of Hungarians in the face of the new coronavirus outbreak.
Jobbik said on Wednesday that the borders should be protected by a trained border guard with specialist equipment and not “police and security companies”.
Currently, Hungary’s borders are protected by police units.
Jobbik said that “millions of guest workers have started their journey home from western Europe, and we have no way of knowing how many of those travelling through Hungary have been infected.” Jobbik called for an isolated transfer route through Hungary where they would have no contact with Hungarians, the statement said.

Regarding the topic of air travel from China, Jobbik insisted that all important European airlines had already suspended flights. Jobbik is calling on the Hungarian government to suspend the Budapest-Beijing service via Minsk which still operates several times a week, the statement said.
In the present crisis, the government must act immediately, the statement said.
