The government’s measures are insufficient to help the “most vulnerable” in society and avoid a welfare crisis, opposition LMP co-leader János Kendernay told an online press conference on Wednesday.
Once the coronavirus epidemic hits poor villages the whole country will be impacted, he said, and added that “it is not enough to provide help to large companies”.
LMP urges reinforcing public work schemes and raising the family benefit, Kendernay said, adding that extra funds should go to services helping people living on remote farms and to schools with poor and Roma children. He also proposed grants to NGOs fighting the epidemic and extra assistance to families taking care of disabled members.
