Domestic production of a coronavirus vaccine will start in Debrecen at the end of next year, the minister of innovation and technology told a press conference on Thursday.
The plant will be set up for the production of vaccines against coronavirus, László Palkovics said.
A vaccine under development will be produced in cooperation with the University of Debrecen (DE) and the National Public Health Centre, he said.
The cost of the investment is expected to total 55 billion (EUR 153m) forints, with the coronavirus vaccine plant costing 6.7-7 billion, he said at the event held at the Hajdú-Bihar Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The government has declared the investment to be of high economic importance with a view to speeding up construction and launching production as quickly as possible, the minister added.
