Another two persons who had tested positive for the novel coronavirus has died, bringing the death toll in Hungary in connection with the virus to nine, koronavirus.gov.hu reported on Tuesday.

The eighth victim, an 80-year-old man, had suffered a chronic illness, the website said.

Later on the day, the chief medical officer said that the ninth death caused by coronavirus was a younger woman who had suffered from several chronic diseases, including heart and circulation problems and various metabolic disorders.

Altogether 21 people have recovered from the virus in Hungary so far, it added.

The website noted that the epidemic in the country was at the stage when the virus is being transmitted in communities, urging those who can to stay home.

On Tuesday, the number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Hungary reached 187. Currently, 92 people are in quarantine and the authorities have taken 6,113 samples.
