Coronavirus – LMP Calls for Restarting Specialist Medical Services with Due Caution

MTI-Hungary Today 2020.04.23.

The opposition LMP is calling for a restart of specialist medical services with due caution, warning that failing to do so could threaten the lives of people who suffer from serious illnesses.

Party lawmaker Krisztina Hohn told an online press conference on Thursday that every effort was indeed necessary to fight the novel coronavirus epidemic, but at the same time, people suffering from chronic diseases and those recently diagnosed must not be disregarded.

After the introduction of the necessary precautions such as screening tents, scheduled bookings, disinfection and wearing protective gear, specialist medical services closed down as a precautionary measure by the government should be reopened, she said.

As a result of the suspension of specialist medical services, certain illnesses are not getting diagnosed in time, necessary operations are being postponed, control screenings for cancer patients are being neglected, physiotherapy sessions are cancelled and laboratory testing is obstructed, she said.
