Coronavirus: 107 Fatalities, 4,948 New Infections Registered in Hungary

Fully 107 Covid patients, generally elderly and suffering from an underlying illness, died over the past 24 hours, while 4,948 new infections were officially registered, bringing the total number of infected to 424,130, koronavirus.gov.hu said on Saturday.

The death toll has risen to 14,902, while 319,691 people have made a recovery.

The number of active infections stands at 89,537, while there are 5,282 hospitalized Covid patients, 482 on ventilators.

Altogether 37,658 people are in official home quarantine, and the number of tests carried out has risen to 3,632,712.

Hungary began rolling out the coronavirus vaccine in December. So far, 563,601 people have received their first jab, and 244,407 have been fully inoculated.

The government has extended coronavirus-related restrictions until March 15.
