Coronavirus: 143 Fatalities, 6,369 New Infections Registered in Hungary

Fully 143 Covid patients, generally elderly and suffering from an underlying illness, died over the past 24 hours, while 6,369 new infections were officially registered, bringing the total number of infected to 452,547, koronavirus.gov.hu said on Friday.

The death toll has risen to 15,619, while 331,557 people have made a recovery.

The number of active infections has risen at 105,371, while there are 6,867 hospitalized Covid patients, 677 on ventilators.

Altogether 45,164 people are in official home quarantine, and the number of tests carried out has risen to 3,781,181.

Hungary began rolling out the coronavirus vaccine in December. So far, 862,953 people have received their first jab, and 279,727 have been fully inoculated.

On Thursday, the government  announced further strict measures.
