Two elderly patients with a chronic underlying illness have died in the past 24 hours and the number of registered novel coronavirus infections has risen by 10 to 4,220, koronavirus.gov.hu said on Thursday morning.
Fully 591 people have died and 2,887 have made a full recovery, while the number of active infections stands at 742. Altogether 2,123 people are in official home quarantine and 289,602 tests have been carried out. A total of 131 coronavirus patients are in hospital, six of whom are on ventilators.
The threat of an epidemic has not disappeared and a state of medical preparedness is in effect, the website said. It is compulsory to wear a face mask in shops and on public transport.
Budapest has the highest number of infections ever registered (1,988), followed by Pest County (639), and the counties of Fejér (379), Komárom-Esztergom (307) and Zala (262). Tolna county has had the fewest infections (13).
