Hungary will leave open a humanitarian corridor towards Romania for Romanian and Bulgarian citizens looking to return home from western Europe as long as Romania promises to let them in, the head of the Prime Minister’s Office said on Thursday.
Romanian and Bulgarian migrant workers waiting to enter Hungary at the Hegyeshalom border station are being let in between 9pm and 5am so that they can pass through the country in a convoy, Gergely Gulyás told a press briefing.
He added that the government has not ruled out opening the humanitarian corridor during the day as well, if necessary.
