András Csaba Dézsi, the mayor of Győr, said late on Wednesday that his second coronavirus test had come back positive, adding that he had no symptoms of Covid-19 and would be quarantined in his home.
He is the first Hungarian politician diagnosed with Covid-19.
A vice mayor of the western Hungarian city, Ákos Radnóti, and municipal representative Péter Hajtó also tested positive for the new virus.
Coronavirus: Interior Minister Pintér Tests Negative
The three officials were tested for the novel coronavirus after Szilárd Lipovits, the city’s notary, had come down with fever and other symptoms and tested positive early last week.
