Zsolt Láng, a municipal councillor for ruling Fidesz, on Friday asked Budapest Mayor Gergely Karácsony to make parking free in the city.
In a video message posted on Facebook, Láng said the mayor had made it clear in his statement that he was not intent on allowing free parking in Budapest.
“This was the wrong decision”, Láng said, arguing that the measure would considerably help Budapest residents in a situation created by the coronavirus epidemic.
“It would greatly ease the burden on public transport which would be highly important in fighting the epidemic,” he said, asking Karácsony to change his mind and follow the example of Vienna.
