272 patients died over the past 24 hours in Hungary, while 2,837 new infections were registered, koronavirus.gov.hu said on Tuesday.

The number of active infections has risen to 272,974, while hospitals are caring for 10,818 Covid patients, 1,209 of whom are on ventilators.

Since the first outbreak, 728,078 infections have been registered, while fatalities have risen to 23,980. Fully 431,124 people have made a recovery.

There are 43,002 people in official quarantine, while 4,961,146 tests have been officially carried out.

So far 2,969,647 people have received a first jab, while 1,250,582 have been fully vaccinated.

On March 5, the government announced further strict measures, but the reopening has started, since the number of people vaccinated with the first jab has reached 2.5 million.
