Boy Who Called Ambulance for His Unconcsious Mother Becomes Bravest Emergency Caller

Hungary Today 2022.02.15.

A young boy from Hőgyész, a village in Tolna County, Hungary, who called 112 when he was five and a half years old for his unconscious mother, has been awarded a prestigious medal.

Noel Balla was awarded the title of the bravest emergency caller of the Szombathely Call Center at a ceremony on the occasion of the Single European Emergency Number Day. Colonel Nikoletta Hablicsek, Head of the Police Department of the National Police Headquarters, and Colonel Zsolt Balázs, head of the call center, presented the award to the young boy, who is now in school.

My mom’s lying on the floor, she’s passed out,”

Noel started the emergency call. After being forwarded to the ambulance, he kept explaining the situation and towards the end of the call, his mother finally woke up. When she realized what his son did, she said:

Did you call an ambulance, baby? I’m proud of you!”

The five-and-a-half-year-old boy also knew exactly at what address he lived (this part was cut out of the recording), and that he could not go out alone.

The full recording can be listened to here.
