Chief Medical Officer Cecília Müller received the Pfizer-BioNTech’s coronavirus vaccination on Wednesday. The number of those already vaccinated nears 90,000 now.
Müller, who since the outbreak regularly heads the government’s press conferences and has become one of the most known faces in Hungary in the past year, was vaccinated at the Szent Imre Teaching Hospital. She is a healthcare worker, that’s the reason why she could get the vaccine in the first phase.
She revealed that up until Wednesday, 86,929 people have been vaccinated, while recipients will begin receiving their second doses on Jan. 18. She urged everyone to register for the inoculation.
The number of registrations for the vaccination in Hungary has surpassed one million. On Tuesday, another shipment of Pfizer-BioNTech’s vaccine arrived, along with the first package of Moderna’s, enough for 3,600 people.
Meanwhile, a fast-spreading variant of the coronavirus, first identified in the United Kingdom, was also detected in Hungary.
