Carpathian Business Network to be Merged into Trading House
The government has plans to merge the Carpathian Region Business Network with the state-owned system of the Hungarian National Trading Houses, said Péter Szijjártó, Hungarian state secretary for foreign affairs and trade. The goal of the merger is to make the network more efficient, as the announcement came at an economic forum and business meeting, held on Monday.
The goal of the Carpathian Region Business Network is to foster closer economic relationships between Central-Eastern European countries and to contribute to the evolution of the region. The network is part of the Wekerle Plan, first announced in 2012, aiming to help growth of small and medium enterprises (SME).
The network has offices in Hungary’s neighboring countries, including ROmani, Croatia, Serbia, Ukraine and Slovkia. Szijjártó at the forum stated that Romania is Hungary’s second largest export market, and bilateral trade between the two countries reached EUR 6.7 billion in 2013.
