During most of the year, the water level in the water strage of Kőbánya in Budapest’s 10th district reaches about 8 meters high. However, the water was drained for a few days last week to mark the water world day on March 22.
The monumental facility, which looks rather tiny above but magnificent beneath the ground, was constructed between 1869 and 1871, so this is the Hungarian capital’s longest serving water storage, szeretlekmagyarorszag.hu reported. The popular Hungarian news portal also shared a video about the facility.
