The next ITU Telecom World – a global platform for governments, corporations and tech SMEs working to accelerate ICT innovation for social and economic development – will be hosted by Hungary in Budapest in September 2019.
Organized by ITU, the UN’s lead agency for information and telecommunications technologies (ICTs), ITU Telecom World aims to make ideas go further, faster to make the world better, sooner. It brings together projects, exhibitors, investors, innovators, and decision-makers and features an exhibition of digital solutions, a forum for sharing knowledge, an Awards program recognizing innovative ICT initiatives with social impact, and a networking hub for organizations, countries and individuals.
ITU Telecom World 2018 was hosted by the Government of the Republic of South Africa between 10 – 13 September in Durban with 300 exhibitors, 3100 participants from 94 countries, 43 panel-sessions and national pavilions from all over the world, including Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Cameroon, China, Egypt and Ghana.
The event celebrated its 47th anniversary this year, following its debut in 1971. As the leading exhibition and forum for the global ICT industry, it brings together public and private representatives to showcase innovative solutions, collaborate and engage in high-level dialogue on the major challenges facing the sector. From 2011 on, the ITU Telecom World has aimed to become a global annual event in rotating geographic locations.
