The 2020 Travel Exhibition will be held at HUNGEXPO Budapest Congress and Exhibition Center from the 27th of February on, with Italy and Eger as the guests of honor of the event. Even though at yesterday’s special press conference held by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade on the coronavirus, the question was raised whether the Travel Exhibition will be held as planned, despite the wide spread of the coronavirus in Italy. According to organizers, there is no reason to take measures against a single country, HVG writes.
Hungexpo, where the Travel Exhibition and Boat Show will be held between Thursday and Sunday, released a statement saying they are:
…constantly monitoring the situation regarding the coronavirus and have contacted the competent authorities. According to our current information, there is no reason to restrict the holding of exhibitions or events in Hungary, nor are there any restrictions on entry to any country that appears at the Travel Exhibition.
They added that the safety and health of participants of the event is their top priority, and in case the situation changes, they will “follow the guidelines of the relevant state and central authorities and follow any measures they propose.” They added that at the exhibition, enhanced hygiene and cleaning measures will be introduced and they will make sure of the health and safety of the visitors by installing hand sanitizer machines both in the exhibition and reception halls.
The two guests of honor will be Italy, where the coronavirus has appeared in several regions, and in Northern Italy, whole areas are under blockade and quarantine, and caused the death of 12 people; and Eger, where the mayor closed down the swimming pool after the waterpolo team, who recently came back from Italy held their training in it, to prevent a possible coronavirus threat.
