Budapest and Bethlehem Become Twin Cities

Hungary Today 2018.09.26.

The Municipal Assembly on Wednesday unanimously approved the twin city accord Budapest concluded with the Palestinian city of Bethlehem earlier this month.

Under the agreement, the two cities will focus their cooperation on classical culture, youth affairs, sport and heritage protection.

Budapest established contact with Bethlehem first in 2011 when Mayor Istvan Tarlós visited the West Bank city.

The mayor of Bethlehem initiated the twinning agreement this June, which Tarlós and Anton Salman signed in the town on Sept. 3.
